MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) received ₱24.8 million worth of medical and non-medical equipment from Melco Resorts Philippines Foundation, Inc. on Tuesday, strengthening its capacity to provide safe, reliable, and accessible blood services to patients and hospitals across Cavite and nearby communities.
The donated equipment includes blood bank refrigerators, plasma freezers, centrifuges, blood mixers, and laboratory testing equipment that will support blood collection, processing, testing, and storage.
“The mission to alleviate human suffering never ends, and no contribution is too small when it gives hope to those in need. When you give blood, you don’t count the cost, because a life may depend on it, and the Red Cross will be there for anyone in need, regardless of their ability to pay. True leadership is doing what is right and leading by example so others find the courage to follow,” PRC Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon said.
“The true value of this contribution will be measured in the people it helps: the patient awaiting blood, the family facing an emergency, and the health care professional equipped to respond,” said Melco Foundation Chairman and President Clarence Chung.
“Behind every blood center is a promise that when a patient needs blood, it will be there, safe and on time. This equipment helps us keep that promise to the people of Cavite. We are grateful to Melco Foundation for investing in a service where every second counts and every unit can save a life,” Secretary General Dr. Gwen Pang highlighted.
The donation will support the development of the new PRC Cavite Chapter headquarters and Provincial Blood Center at Vermosa Complex in Imus City. The facility is expected to strengthen the chapter’s blood service capacity and improve access to safe blood products for hospitals and patients across Cavite.
